Joy's Cat Ceramic Cup
The original motif "Joy" was painted on January 8, 2020, in Wuhan. It was born from a moment of pure joy, a lighthearted mood, surrounded by my cat and dog, doubling the happiness. At the center of the artwork is the figure "Soft Human" (ruǎn rén), an unknown variable “x” who can stand for you, me, or anyone. But only ten days later, on January 23, 2020, Wuhan announced lockdown, marking the beginning of three long years. When the city finally reopened, the artwork traveled to Jingdezhen, China's porcelain capital. There, the painting was transformed into ceramics, giving birth to the Joy Ceramic Series. Painted in dreamlike, uplifting tones using hand-drawn underglaze techniques. Enhanced with color-glaze blends and kiln transformations, creating unique variations. Fired at 1250°C to achieve durable, luminous porcelain. Each item carries slight differences, making every cup one of a kind. Artist's Message “I hope these Be Happy vessels bring more moments of happiness to everyone, a reminder that even in difficult times, joy can be preserved, held, and shared.”
