I am Mengyu, an artist based in Hangzhou. I have always been fascinated by the depth of art—especially painting and sculpture—can reach, beyond what words or thought can convey. My creative process is nourished by reflections on life, philosophy, and personal experiences, which serve as both inspiration and substance for my work. I favor and specialize in working with soft pastels, appreciating their delicate, gentle texture and pure, luminous color. Over the years, I have explored different techniques and expressions with soft pastels, combining them with various media—including mixed media and wood panels—to expand the medium beyond traditional two-dimensional surfaces. These layered surfaces create a visual tension that is gentle but never fragile, inviting viewers into a space that is at once quiet and alive.
