Guided by the philosophy of preserving the fleeting beauty of a flower at its peak bloom, Gongzi Heng transforms historical imperial adornments into wearable modern art, creating handcrafted hairpins, bespoke brooches, earrings, and framed botanical sculptures. Unlike fabric millinery, Ronghua is a demanding discipline of micro-sculpture forged from pure mulberry silk and annealed copper wire. Silk filaments are bound between gossamer copper wires under high tension and precision-trimmed by hand into plush velvet rods before being sculpted into lifelike petals. Moving beyond traditional matte velvet, Gongzi Heng incorporates high-refraction lustrous silk threads into petal edges and foliage veins, producing a dewy shimmer that responds to shifting light. Influenced by classical Chinese fine-brush painting, colors transition through seamless botanical washes. The artist further pairs soft silk velvet with natural freshwater pearls, weathered agarwood, and refined jewelry wire to create a compelling contemporary dialogue.
